It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way, by Lysa Terkeurst”

Book Study Facilitated by Aimee Norrod

Life sometimes looks different than what we hoped or expected. We may feel disappointed or disillusioned and start to question God’s goodness. We may even go so far to blame God. Join us as we learn to navigate hard realities through God’s truth. We will discover God’s goodness and that He is our source of life and peace as we walk with Him in this fallen world.

Let’s spend 11 weeks discovering how to better process unmet expectations and other painful situations through a radical encounter with God’s Word. Workbook with six lessons is required for the study.

“How to Train Dragonslayers in a Dragon-Filled World”
Steven James

Parenting is one the biggest privileges and responsibilities that we face in this world.  God has tasked Christian parents to do everything that they can do to prepare their children for the battles they will face in a culture and a world in which Satan works to capture their hearts.  In this course, we are going to lay a biblical/theological foundation for the task of parenting and discuss a number of specific challenge areas for parents in our day.  Come join us as we share our struggles and explore God’s plan for us to make Dragonslayers for His glory.

“Why We Believe What We Believe”

Todd McMath

This course is designed to overview the basics of the Evangelical Christian Faith, with a particular focus on what we believe as Southern Baptists.  The class will focus on topics such as Scripture, God, Man and Sin, Salvation, the Church and some other areas of faith that are important to who we are as a church.  This class is designed for mature Christians and for new Christians or those new to Baptist life.

“How to Be the World’s Greatest Grandparent” (5 Weeks)

David Franklin

This course is designed to challenge and equip grandparents to spiritually impact and disciple their grandchildren.  The course will apply the truths of God’s Word to the unique opportunity that grandparents have to disciple their grandchildren to know and follow Christ from the biblical role of grandparents to best practices to identifying and meeting emotional needs and more.

Additional Thoughts: This seminar will not be a traditional lecture but interactive and discovery oriented where participants are led to hear from God and act for a lifetime. We will help them understand biblical roles, responsibilities, opportunities, and urgency. Each week participants will have homework assignments so they are not just hearers of the word but doers. We will create connection groups based upon the age groups of grandchildren ie preschool, elementary, teenage and adult. Many adult grandchildren have left the faith so we want these grandparents to connect with each other over a long period of time. The goal is for grandparents at CFBC to walk together in the days and years to come.

Schedule: September 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
