Dr. J. Gerald Harris - Interim Pastor

I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian hom in western North Carolina.  I trusted Jesus as my personal Savior when I was almost ten years old and was called to preach as a senior in high school.

My wife, Martha Jean, and I were married in May of 1963 and have three children, Miriam Godwin (married to Billy Godwin, pastor of Ephesis Baptist Church near Douglasville), John (married to Kathryn) and Jerry (married to Andrea).  We have ten incredible grandchildren.

I have served as pastor of churches in North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi and Georgia over a period of 41 years before becoming editor of the Georgia Baptist Convention state paper in June of 2003.

I have had the privilege of serving the Lord in various positions in local Baptist associations, state conventions as well as the Southern Baptist Convention, but my greatest joy is to proclaim the unsearchable riches of Jesus Christ, God's darling Son and my precious Redeemer.
